A hand-carved chinese duck sculpture with a bold, graphic form and a richly aged surface. The body is finished in deep black with red-painted details along the wings, beak and crest, while scattered traces of gold create an irregular, layered patina. Visible wear and losses to the painted surface give the object a distinctive character, emphasizing its age and handmade construction. Mounted on a simple rectangular base, the piece has a strong decorative and sculptural presence.
